OPI Products, also known as OPI, is an American nail polish manufacturer based in Calabasas, California, and a part of Coty Inc. George Schaeffer bought Odontorium Products Inc., a tiny dental supplies firm, in 1981 and renamed it OPI.
Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI’s Executive Vice President and Artistic Director, joined Schaeffer. Schaeffer and Weiss-Fischmann collaborated with R. Eric Montgomery, a biochemist, developed an acrylic system that Schaeffer sold to local nail salons door-to-door.
